The ultimate objective for me as a Designer and Illustrator is to create visual solutions that will effectively communicate a message and to make complex information easier to be perceived for different audiences. My perspective is that design is about relationships and that nothing should be done at random. Even if they are created with random reasons, there should always be consistency. There are certain aesthetic and design rules that should be followed for consistency and to make communication even more effective. Sometimes, these problems are too complex and prevents some aspects of design to change to comply to certain compliances to regulations of laws, commercial restraints, and integration into working with other products, and systems. I tend to apply boundaries to make sure that the parameters of the work are measured before starting my design process or else one would waste a lot of time to fix their design into something that they would not enjoy giving to others.
Even if the job of a designer tends to go unnoticed there are those small details and final refinements that are what makes a huge difference to making a design functional and effective. Each project that I have finished have common themes and process that drives my design. My concepts and themes are inspired by some of my real-life experiences and natural elements in the world. Also, I tend to have inspiration that gravitate towards my values and traditional ethnicity as a fellow Vietnamese; one of the Vietnamese values that I hold to heart that I apply to design is to have solidarity and harmony and due to this my designs at times range from being bold to sophisticated and elegant. I think fundamental background and niche market research is vital and necessary when it comes to design. In addition, the more you know more about the content of your design affects the layout and meaning of it. Part of graphic design is to know what appeals to the public and the target audiences, knowing these elements helps me narrow down what process work would communicate and matches the parameter of the project better. One of my strong points in design is having harmonized structural layout, color, and logo type design. I rely on having critique from other peers and the people around me to see if the design is reading and functioning well to the parameters of the project even if I know that these are my strong points in design. Lastly, one of the key things that I never forget to implement in graphic design is my identity. I will always take opportunity to show people who I truly am as a designer, because I know that there will be a time where I will not be able to as I continue with this career. Figuring out who I am as a designer was difficult for me to even answer, but I can describe myself as a designer to be consistent, determined, as well as resilient.
