My work in the graphic design field focuses on the relationship between design elements such as line, form, and balance. Most of my inspiration comes from the forms of the natural world, as well as geometrical patterns and shapes. I am aiming to create designs for clients that are looking to portray their ideas in an abstract and open way. Much of my work is influenced by my surroundings and daily life; my relationships and experiences have shaped my perception of life, and I aim to portray my responses to these stimuli. I focus on captivating designs that provoke thoughts and questions and explores problems and solutions. Personally, the best designs I've seen have influenced me in a way that went further than visceral and immediate responses; good work will always stick with you. My work, in the graphic design field and otherwise, contains concepts of balance, interconnection, dependency, personal power, and expression of emotions and mood. These concepts are a part of my thinking process, which in turn affects my creation process. This process consists of automated sketching, ideation, word maps, mood boards, typographical research, and personal research and exploration. As a student and avid searcher of knowledge, my work and creations are the product of my investigations and interest in the processes and occurrences of my daily life. Therefore, my designs are an iteration of my personal search for knowledge and experience, and they allow me to open myself up to new perspective. The problems I solve through my creation process are of layout, effectiveness, relevancy, efficiency, clarity, style, and pertinence. My long-term goal for my craft in graphic design is to create designs that provoke critical thinking within the viewer; I aim to make pieces that raise questions for the viewer, questions that they will feel moved to explore on their own. Each piece is a personal invitation to look deeper within ourselves and how we interact with ourselves internally, as well as with others in our lives and our environment we are surrounded by. As I continue to evolve my knowledge and perception, my pieces are evolving along with me. I would like to create a space in which viewers can feel more connected to their own personal sense of truth, and to keep following this truth. As I hone in on my methods as a creative, my professional persona is being built alongside my work. Professionally, I would like to be respected in my field and allowed to create an open narrative between me and my clients, as well as any viewer or consumer. Collaborative work in my field is vital for my specialization and refinement as a designer; I aim to learn from anyone I work with through understanding their values and concerns with design and product. When I graduate with my BFA, I want to be immersed in a professional environment in which expression is valued and so is my personal experiences and emotions. Adaptivity is what I aim to achieve through creating amazing designs alongside amazing companies, brands, and individuals.
